India entered into a new era of green mobility with the implementation of BS6 norms and Maruti Suzuki stepped up proactively in this endeavour. We introduced our 1st BS6 compliant petrol car, Baleno, in April 2019, which was a complete year in advance from the mandated deadline. This early introduction of BS6 cars in India by Maruti Suzuki is a shining example of the brand’s commitment to the Government of India’s vision for cleaner and greener mobility. Here is the timeline of Maruti Suzuki BS6 cars:

Baleno and Alto 800 - April 2019 onwards

WagonR, Swift, Dzire - June 2019 onwards

Ertiga - July 2019 onwards

XL6 - August 2019 onwards

S-Presso - September 2019 onwards

Celerio - January 2020 onwards

Today, the extensive range of Maruti Suzuki BS6 cars in Indiainclude Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ertiga, Ignis, S-Cross, S-Presso, Swift, Vitara Brezza, WagonR, and XL6.

BS6 cars help decrease NOx, Particular matter, and NMHC emissions which have an adverse effect on health. In that direction, Maruti Suzuki BS6 compliant petrol cars in Indiaresult in a substantial decrease of nearly 25% in Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.

Mission Green Million

Since the last decade, Maruti Suzuki has adopted the greener, cleaner, and smarter technologies and sold over 1.15 Million green vehicles! Mission Green Million personifies this intent, under which we aim to sell one million green vehicles in the next couple of years. The mission is in line with the brand’s commitment towards introducing newer, customer-friendly, and greener technologies for Indian car buyers.

Strengthening Green Manufacturing

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the cars we manufacture. Maruti Suzuki is constantly discovering new methods to harness the clean resources which are available in abundance and execute them in their business operations. Recently, Maruti Suzuki commissioned a 5 MW carport style photovoltaic solar power plant at Gurugram facility. It will help meet internal energy requirements at the facility. The solar power plant complements the brand’s efforts to adopt environment-friendly technologies and reduce the carbon footprint.

Let’s move together towards a greener future.
