This system, instead of a conventional alternator, comprises of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) which essentially takes care of the motor functions and regenerative braking of the dual battery setup.

• Brake Energy Regeneration

In this, ISG converts kinetic energy (that’s generated from braking and slowing down) into electrical energy and then stores it in the batteries. This stored energy is then used by the ISG in motor functions such as Idle-Start-Stop and Torque assist function.

• Idle Stop-Start

On a red-light or in bumper-to-bumper traffic, whenever all the optimum conditions are met, the Idle Stop-Start function automatically turns off the engine. And when you depress the clutch, the energy stored in the batteries of the setup turns on the engine again. This helps in enhancing the fuel-efficiency of the car.

• Torque Assist

The Torque Assist function directly helps in improving the fuel efficiency of the car. In this, ISG supplements the engine during acceleration which improves the overall drivability and reducing fuel consumption when the car is picking up speed.
