At full capacity of one million units per annum, the facility will be among the largest vehicle manufacturing facilities globally and a key contributor to the Company’s four million units annual production capacity ambition#. The projected total investment at the facility will be INR 35,000 crore*, creating over 21,000 jobs*.

Mr. Suzuki added, “Over the years, India’s importance has grown significantly within the Suzuki Group. Suzuki’s first Battery Electric Vehicle, the e VITARA, is manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, for exports to 100 countries globally. Thanks to exports of Made in India cars, Suzuki has become the largest car importer in Japan, one of the most demanding automobile markets. This shift is a strong reflection of how ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ is unfolding in practice, demonstrating growing global trust in India’s quality, capability, and advancement in manufacturing.”

About Kharkhoda facility
The Kharkhoda manufacturing facility is built on the concept of a ‘Suzuki Smart Factory’. The facility leverages advanced digital technologies to enable real-time visualization of operations, enhancing safety, quality, and productivity, while simultaneously minimizing energy consumption across manufacturing processes.
Further strengthening its future-ready capabilities, the plant integrates Industry 5.0 practices, including the deployment of Human-aware collaborative robots (COBOTS), enabling seamless human-machine collaboration to achieve global benchmarks in quality and operational excellence.
Integrating Renewable Energy into Plant Operations
100% of the facility’s electricity requirements are met through renewable energy (in combination of solar power and green power procurement). It currently operates with an installed solar capacity of 20 MWp, which is set to scale up significantly to 70 MWp by 2030#, reinforcing the Company’s commitment towards renewable energy. Further augmenting this effort, a 10 TPD biogas plant and a 1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System are being installed.
Zero Liquid Discharge Facility
In line with its focus on responsible resource management, the facility operates as a zero liquid discharge plant, ensuring 100% recycling of water. Nearly two-thirds of its overall water requirement is met through recycled water and rainwater harvesting.
In addition, to ease congestion and reduce fuel consumption in vehicle transportation, an in‑plant railway siding will be established at the Kharkhoda facility, like those already operational at the Company’s vehicle manufacturing facilities at Manesar (Haryana) and Hansalpur (Gujarat).
Touching Lives Positively
As part of CSR initiatives, the Company is implementing targeted community development projects in 10 villages near Kharkhoda facility. These span across - education, community infrastructure, healthcare and sanitation, in consultation with the local community leaders.
Creating a Skill Pool
Maruti Suzuki has set up four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIMs) as a collaborative initiative between the Governments of India and Japan, with an ambition to create a pool of skilled workforce. Since inception, 2,600 students have been cumulatively trained across Maruti Suzuki operated JIMs. Going ahead, the Company is planning to build student hostel facilities at JIM Sonipat and Manesar to support residential training needs.
