CoE to enhance employability avenues for youth of Haryana
Gurgaon/New Delhi: In a bid to enhance employability of youth Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has undertaken various Skill Development initiatives under its CSR program. Today the Company took another major step by inaugurating a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Government Polytechnic, Manesar in Haryana. Set up in collaboration with Government of Haryana, the CoE will be used to train and improve the level of technical education of polytechnic students in the state and effectively contribute to Skill India initiative. The state-of-the-art CoE is equipped with latest equipment and training tools. Facilities like Maruti Suzuki Basic training Lab, Safety Lab, and Finishing Schools for Weld/Paint/Assembly, Simulation workshop, Robotics Lab, AutoCAD (CAD/CAM/CAE) Lab, Electropneumatics Lab and Smart class rooms will be used to impart practical training.
The facility is expected to benefit over 5,000 polytechnic students annually. It will serve as a training centre for students from Government Polytechnic, Manesar as well as students from other polytechnics across the state and shop floor employees from automobile/auto component industry.
The land and building for the CoE at the Government Polytechnic, Manesar is provided by Government of Haryana, while Maruti Suzuki has set up workshops and labs with latest equipment and training tools. Maruti Suzuki has borne the initial cost of set up and will continue to maintain and run the CoE. To meet its objective of bridging the skill gap, Maruti Suzuki will also depute experienced trainers/industry experts to train and share the technical knowhow.
Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited along with Mr. Krishan Kumar Kataria, Director Technical Education, Haryana and Mr. Tilak Raj Narula, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Manesar, inaugurated the Centre of Excellence and Incubation Centre, today. The event was graced by Maruti Suzuki senior management and senior State Government officials.
Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Skill Development is an important focus area under Corporate Social Responsibility. We have been working with over 110 ITIs across the country. Our focus is to impart right technical skills with strong emphasis on inculcating the right values and attitude. These will help them find a job and build a career while contributing to Government of India’s Make in India initiative.”
He added, “The Centre of Excellence at Government Polytechnic, Manesar will train the youth across polytechnics in Haryana and will bridge the gap between polytechnic education and skills required by the Industry. We are thankful to Government of Haryana, Haryana State Board of Technical Education, Govt. Polytechnic Education Society, Manesar and the Principal and teachers at Govt. Polytechnic Manesar for their support and trust in Maruti Suzuki.”
The CoE is a result of the MoU, signed in 2018, between Maruti Suzuki and Government of Haryana to upgrade and enhance the Government Polytechnic, Manesar with Technical Training Facilities.

Under Skill Development, a focus CSR initiative, Maruti Suzuki is expanding its efforts to enhance employability of underprivileged youth by improving the quality of skill training in over 110 Industrial Training Institutes. The Company’s approach is to consult potential employers to understand their requirements, and undertake relevant initiatives to make students industry ready. In FY 2017-18 the Company set up Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) in Mehsana, Gujarat as a model ITI. The institute is an outcome of a joint initiative between Government of India and Government of Japan to create a pool of 30,000 skilled manpower for the manufacturing industry in India.
