If you want high mountain
thrills, Mussoorie is the place to go. Its location and distance
from Delhi demands more than just the weekend to explore this picturesque
place. The route up has some superb winding roads and breathtaking
scenery.
Mussoorie, a hill resort in the Garwhal Himalayan region, is about
7000 feet above sea level. There are lots of trails for trekkers
and lots of scenic spots to explore.
Located at a distance of 290 miles, from Delhi and overlooking the
sprawling Doon valley, Mussoorie is a frequent getaway for those
wishing to escape the summer heat. The climate is good all round
the year, except in winters when it can get really cold. |

Driving up :
As the meandering roads go higher and higher up, it is better to
keep to the lower gears if you don't want the engine to get heated
up due to the strain. There will be hairpin bends (or jalebi bends as the
locals call it) to navigate. Ensure you have good road grip at hairpin
bends. Watch out for unmarked speed breakers.
Overtaking at hairpin bends need caution. Make sure the route
is absolutely safe before attempting to overtake the vehicle ahead.
Switch off air conditioners at altitudes, if you feel the strain. |
