Lonavala - The resting place
         
 

Looking for a getaway with a long drive? Head for Lonavala. A popular destination- added to it, is the expressway that has made the journey a real pleasure. A road so smooth that it now takes just an hour to reach our destination. The travel time now, is reduced to half of what it used to take earlier. The disciplined driving on the expressway helps you rediscover the joys of driving. No traffic jams, no stopovers, just a smooth long blissful drive.

Lonavala is believed to be a distortion of the word Lonavali or place to rest. As the name rightfully suggests, take the opportunity to relax and unwind. If you are ready to hit the roads, fasten your seat belt and press the accelerator.

Lonavala is known as the jewel of the Sahayadri mountains in the western ghats. Being above sea level, the climate will prove to be a relief after the heat and dust of the plains.   Rajmachi Park -
    Enjoy the flora at Rajmachi park and Reywood Garden. These botanical gardens have been turned into a large picnic garden.
     
  Duke's Point is a popular spot for hikers.
     
  Bhushi Dam is an enjoyable specially in monsoon when the dam overflows.
     
  Valvan Dam has a beautiful garden.
     
  Indravani river - Boating facilities are available at the Indravani river.
     
  Rajmachi Point - Watch the surrounding valley from this point.
     
  Tiger's Leap - This cliff top provides a magnificent view of the surroundings.
     
  Lions's point lies between Bushy Dam and Amby valley. The view from here is worth watching.
     
  Explore the Karla caves built by Buddhist monks in the 2nd and 3rd C B.C.
     
  Reversing Station point - is an interesting sight to watch a network of railway lines going through tunnels on one end and Duke's
    nose on the other.
     
  Climb up for a wonderful view of the surroundings from Lohagad Fort, or Iron Fort. It was once the battle ground of Sivaji.
