Board the Himalayan train that zig zags it way up to the queen of hill stations - Darjeeling - the fascinating land of Gorkhas and tea gardens. The 'toy train' as it is popularly called, takes you up, through forests, verdant valleys, overflowing rivers and snowy mountain peaks, with clouds hanging just above, as if welcoming you to this spectacular land.

Situated at an altitude of 7000 feet above the sea  level, this hill station  in West Bengal is one of India's most famous hill resorts. This hill station has some fascinating sights to offer. The most famous among them being the Tiger hills - where the spectacular sight of the sun rising above mount Kanchenjunga, is sure to leave you spell bound. The other places of interest is the town of Ghoom which has the highest railway station in the world. Then there is the Japanese pagoda which depicts the various stages in the life of Buddha. The Lloyds Botanical gardens and the Padmaja Naidu Zoological park are other attractions of this place. Popular view points are Jawahar Parbat and the Observatory Hill from where one can watch the fascinating views of the Himalayan ranges.

Darjeeling is synonymous with tea. Spread across acres of land the tea estates here produces some of the worlds most aromatic varieties of tea, that really has to be relished to be believed.
