Lying in its own unassuming way, on top of the Jhandi Dhar hills in the Kumaon region, this bird sanctuary and forest reserve is a haven for nature lovers. Binsar is home to a variety of birds and some wild animals. Acres of oak and rhododendron trees, and a large variety of flowering plants make it nature lover's paradise.

Binsar has a little historical touch to it. It was once the summer capital of the
erstwhile Chand Rajas. The forest reserve was later established by Sir Henry Ramsay during the British rule, and frequented by the Nehru family, who spent many memorable days here.

  The majestic view of the snow covered Himalayan ranges like the Trishul, Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Shivling and Panchchuli
    are worth seeing.
  Bineshwar Mahadev temple is situated at the distance of 8 km. Built by King Kalyan Chand. Binsar is named after Bineshwar
    Mahadev or Lord Shiva. This temple is considered to be one of the 12 Jothirlingams in India.
  Binsar Museum provides adequate information on the flora and fauna of the region and the sanctuary.
  Jageshwara Temple is situated in a beautiful narrow valley surrounded by magnificent Deodar trees.
  The Binsar wild life sanctuary near Almora houses a number of wild animals. Commonly seen are leopards, deer and wild boar.
  Patal Bhuvaneshwar is an underground cave complex overlooking the valley at the Himalayan foothills is worth seeing.

      Binsar is well connected through motorable roads to all prominent towns- Almora (34 kms.), Nainital (120 kms.) & Delhi (418 kms.). Take the Nainital route till Kathgodam/Bhowali.
       
      From Bhowal take the Almora road via Khairna, Garampani, Kwarab to reach Almora via Dinapani.
