Mesmerising Macleodganj
     
  Macleodganj makes you wonder whether you are in India or Tibet. This hill resort offers fascinating glimpses of Tibetan life. The large Tibetan population of the region and the presence of monasteries, with traditional architectural designs in their constructions have enhanced the place.

Seeped in Buddhism, Macleodganj is an ideal place to bask in spirituality and get rejuvenated.

Macleodganj is a popular tourist destination located in the Kangra valley in Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in the upper region of Dharamshala at an altitude of 2000 m. The scintillating mountain in the back drop adds to the splendour of the place. The prime attraction is of course the residence of the Holy Dalai Lama. People throng here from all over to catch a glimpse of this revered Lama.
 
         
   
         
  There are plenty of attractions, for adventure lovers, nature enthusiasts, and even shoppers. Attractions also include rejuvenation centres which hold classes on the practice of Yoga, meditation, and the like.

  The Residence of Dalai Lama
  Tsuglagkhang
One of the prime attractions at Macleodganj is definitely Tsuglagkhang or the Dalai Lama's temple. It is a fine example of Tibetan architecture.
  Namgyalma Stupa
The Namgyalma Stupa is a memorial dedicated to all the Tibetans, who breathed their last in the struggle for an independent Tibet.
  Bhagsu
Bhagsu is a nearby village. There is a Shiva temple in this village, on the banks of a mountain stream. Pilgrims flock to this place for a holy dip in the waters of the temple tank.
  Triund
A popular trekking spot at the foot of the snow clad Dhauladhar. Triund is 17 km from Dharamsala.
  Dharamkot
Dharamkot is the starting point for treks to the high plateau at Triund (2,975m), or further over the high passes into the Chamba valley.
  Dal Lake
There is the Dal Lake, connected to Dharamkot by a path down through the wooded slopes.

  Kotwali Bazaar.
There are plenty of Tibetan artifacts and apparel available. This makes it the perfect place to indulge in some shopping. Typical Tibetian carpets, woollens are major attractions in the markets.
