Sprawling in the midst of cloud-coiled hills, in the Western Ghats lies Madikeri - one of the most beautiful hill stations in Karnataka. It is situated at an elevation of over 5,000ft, with major peaks - Tadiandamol, Brahmagiri and Pushpagiri Hills, standing tall and proud, while the meandering lanes of the mountain trails offer a spectacular view of the rolling hill sides.
The misty hills and the lush greenery of the hillsides, the endless acres of coffee and tea plantations, the cool climate and the natural bliss makes Madikeri one of the choicest holiday destinations. There are a number site seeing spots and adventure sports like trekking and river rafting are some activities one can indulge in.
Another important feature of Madikeri is the presence of the origin of the River Kaveri, making it a sacred place. |

Talacauvery - At a distance of 44kms is Talakaveri - the source of the Holy Kaveri River. It's just a small well from which the mighty river originates. On a particular day in the month of October, the well suddenly bubbles forth, symbolizing the appearance of Goddess Kaveri. This day is considered sacred, and is celebrated as the Tula Sankaramana day. Thousands of devotees throng to witness this scene. |
