Wildly Captivating - Bandhavgarh
     
  Among other wildlife reserves in India, Bandhavgarh is unique- as it can be visited any time of the year, and you can be assured of spotting a number of wild animals, especially the tiger.

Bandhavgarh National Park is a popular national park in India located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. Prior to becoming a national park, the forests around Bandhavgarh had long been a Shikargarh or game reserve for the Maharajas reigning in region. Compared to other game reserves in India Bandhavgarh is relatively small, but over the years the park has gained significance because of the high density of tigers in this reserve.
 
         
   
         
  The best way to explore the jungle is by open safari accompanied by a professional naturalist. For the little adventurous types Elephant safaris are options available.

There are attractions other than the wildlife waiting for visitors to explore - like the numerous caves in and around Bandhavgarh.
   
  Places to see
 
     
  Bandhavgarh Fort is the oldest fort in India. The climb up to the fort is well worth it as the fort offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It is believed that the saint Kabir Das lived here.
  There are a number of man-made caves in Bandhavgarh with inscriptions and interesting carvings which date back many centuries. Among the caves Bari Gufa - is the biggest man made cave of the reserve.
  The Baghel Museum is a museum for the personal belongings of the Maharaja of Rewa who once owned this reserve.
  Bhamera Dam and the Gharpuri Dam on the outskirts of the reserve is the place to spot a number of water birds.
  Not just a tiger reserve, Bandhavgarh reserve is also densely populated with other species like the Indian bison sambar, barking deer, nilgai. Gopalpur is place to spot a number of exotic birds.
  The Bandhaini Hillock is a meadow which offers a wonderful view of the surrounding areas.
