  Maruti Q1 Net up 63.19 per cent to Rs 3,695.7 million
 
New Delhi, July 27, 2006: Car market leader Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) registered Total Income (Net of Excise) of Rs 32687.7 million during April-June 2006, a growth of 20.01 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Net profit during April-June 2006 stood at Rs 3695.7 million, up 63.19 per cent over April-June 2005.

The Board of Directors approved the financial results for April-June 2006 at a meeting here today.

The company's sales in the domestic market during April-June 2006 was 1,37,104 units, a growth of 19.2 per cent over the same period last year. Total sales, including exports, was 1,44,948 units, up 18.9 per cent over April-June 2005.

Non Executive Directors

Mr D S Brar, an eminent corporate professional, joined the Board of Directors of the company as a Non Executive Independent Director. Mr Brar, formerly CEO and Managing Director of Ranbaxy Laboratories, is the Promoter and Chairman, GVK Biosciences Private Limited. He is a member of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Pharmaceuticals and Knowledge-based Industries. Mr Brar also serves as Director on the Board of Reserve Bank of India.

Mr T Kobayashi, Managing Director of MSAIL, was inducted as Non Executive Director on the Board of Directors of MUL
